East Cascade Native Plant Hub

  • March 07, 2024
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Klamath County Museum

Dr. Matt Shinderman of the OSU-Cascades Human and Ecosystem Resiliency and Sustainability (HERS) Lab in Bend will describe the East Cascade Native Plant Hub. The Native Plant Hub is an educational and restoration partnership between;

  • Oregon State University – Cascades Campus
  • the National Park Service
  • WinterCreek Nursery (High Desert Horticulture Center)
  • The Bureau of Land Management
  • The Nature Conservancy
  • US Fish and Wildlife Service
  • US Geological Survey
  • and the Warm Springs Tribes

The partnership’s mission is to educate the next generation of conservation practitioners by providing opportunities to complete every stage of ecological restoration, from seed collection and cleaning, to propagating site specific genotypes and completing on-the-ground restoration of native plant communities in a variety of ecoregions across the western U.S.

South central Oregon presents a gap area for an equivalent partnership program. Dr. Shinderman’s presentation will afford local interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the organization and operation of a ‘plant hub.’
